Markets

African businesses deserve the same quality of communication infrastructure that Silicon Valley startups take for granted.

We started Sendexa because we kept watching great African products fail not because of bad ideas or bad teams — but because the infrastructure underneath them was unreliable, expensive, and built for someone else's market.

So we built our own. One API for every communication channel. Rates that make sense for African volumes. Support that actually picks up. And a roadmap anchored entirely in what African builders need next.

The problem

Africa has 1.4 billion people
and no Twilio.

The African digital economy is growing faster than anywhere else on earth. But the infrastructure layer — the pipes that let businesses talk to customers and move money — is still fragmented, expensive, and unreliable. That's the gap Sendexa exists to close.

The infrastructure gap we're closing

Four problems we're solving

01

Fragmented vendors

African businesses juggle 3–5 different SMS, email, and payment vendors — each with different APIs, dashboards, support contacts, and invoices. The integration cost alone kills momentum.

02

US-centric pricing

Global communication platforms price for US volumes. A startup in Accra sending 50,000 SMS a month pays the same per-message rate as a company in San Francisco — which makes no sense.

03

Unreliable delivery

African telco routes are complex. Without local carrier relationships and DND-aware routing, delivery rates hover around 85–90%. For OTP and transactional messages, that's not good enough.

04

No local support

When something breaks at 2am in Accra, you can't reach someone who understands your market. Most global platforms don't even have a West Africa team.

How we got here

Our timeline

2025 Q3
Origin

The frustration that started it all

Building a fintech product in Accra, our founder spent three weeks just trying to get reliable OTP delivery working across Ghanaian carriers. Three vendors, three integrations, still 88% delivery. That was the moment.

2025 Q4
Build

First lines of code

A proof-of-concept: one API that abstracted away carrier complexity for Ghana. Tested with 10 developer friends. Delivery jumped to 99.2%. The idea was real.

2026 Q1
Launch

Sendexa Limited incorporated

Incorporated in Accra, Ghana. Added WhatsApp and Email to the API. Brought on the first two engineers. Started the YC and Tony Elumelu Foundation applications.

2026 Q2
Traction

First 50 paying customers

Zero paid marketing. Word spread through developer communities in Ghana and Nigeria. Our NPS from the first cohort: 72. We knew we had something.

What we stand for

Our values
guide every decision.

From how we write documentation to how we respond to incidents at midnight — these principles are the operating system behind everything we build.

Africa-first, always

Every product decision, pricing model, and roadmap priority starts with one question: does this serve African builders and businesses better? Not a global one-size-fits-all.

Developer obsession

We judge ourselves by how fast a developer can go from signup to first successful API call. If it takes more than 10 minutes, we've failed. Docs, SDKs, and DX are first-class.

Reliability over features

A message that doesn't deliver is worse than not sending it at all. We prioritise uptime, delivery rates, and infrastructure stability above new feature launches.

Honest transparency

Our pricing is public. Our uptime is public. When we have an incident, we post a detailed post-mortem. No marketing spin — just straight talk with the builders who trust us.

Community, not just customers

African developer communities are our most important relationships. We contribute to local meetups, open-source projects, and developer education across the continent.

Built with pride

We're building the infrastructure that will underpin the next generation of African unicorns. That's not a tagline — it's a responsibility we carry every day.
